Parent Code of Conduct
We, the South Hill Little League, have implemented the following Parent Code of Conduct for the important
message it holds about the proper role of parents in supporting their children in sports.
Parents should read, understand and acknowledge this form prior to their children participating in our league.
Any parent guilty of improper conduct at any game or practice will be asked to leave the sports facility and be
suspended from the following game. Repeat violations may cause a multiple game suspension, or the season
forfeiture of the privilege of attending all games.
As a South Hill Little League parent/family member/volunteer, I WILL:
Remember that children participate to have fun
Be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship
Teach my child to play by the rules and resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence
Demand that my child treats coaches, officials, and other players with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or ability
Teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning
Praise my child for competing fairly and trying hard
Promote the emotional and physical well-being of athletes ahead of my personal desire to win
Respect the officials and their authority during games
Respect the “Spirit of the game of Baseball”
Learn the rules of the game (different divisions have different rules) and the policies of the league
Be POSITIVE in ALL aspects of the event whether the team is winning or losing!
As a South Hill Little League parent/family member/volunteer, I WILL NOT:
Force my child to participate
Engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent
Boo, taunt, refuse to shake hands, or use profane language
Encourage any behaviors or practices that would endanger the health and well being of athletes
Ridicule or yell at my child or other participants for making a mistake or losing a game
Use drugs, tobacco, or alcohol at any league event
Coach my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am a coach.
In many cases, we will employ Youth Umpires to officiate our games. ANY NEGATIVITY towards any youth umpire will be grounds for game suspension by the offender!
* The players will remember a very NEGATIVE moment more than they will
remember a positive moment. Make sure all aspects of the event are POSITIVE!
By attending any Little League event, I pledge to follow this code of conduct.
